I have had the honor of knowing John Schwandt since I began auditioning at multiple schools around the country for my master’s degree in 2008. From the first time I met him, I knew there was something unique and special about him and his style of teaching which ultimately led me to the University of Oklahoma to begin my graduate career. As a teacher, he helped push me out of my comfort zone and explore different aspects of the organ I never would have dreamed of. As a mentor and as a friend, he helped me learn more about myself and grow into the person I want to be. I am a better musician and person now because of Dr. Schwandt, and I hope to pass on the many things he taught me to my own students. Studying with John Schwandt was one of the best decisions I could have made.
